Danforth Village

If you´ve lived in Toronto for any length of time, the Danforth requires no introduction. Being a world-famous phenomenon, even for the uninitiated the name alone conjures up an exotic melange of sights, sounds and smells that must be experienced to be believed. Like Toronto, the Danforth is a microcosm; the melting pot of Canada manifested in every storefront, every meandering sidestreet and every smiling face. Despite being the largest Greek community in the country, you can hardly take two steps before switching gears to a dozen other cultures. Convenience notwithstanding, for those looking to relocate here the reasons are endless (but being on a subway line doesn´t hurt). Sure there´s plenty to do, shops to explore, cuisine to savour, etc. but the whole place is rife with parks and some of the best schools in the City. Monarch Park, the area´s largest, features a variety of recreational facilities including an artificial ice rink, wading pool and swimming pool. North of the Danforth the streets are lined with semi-detached homes of one style or another. To the south the homes are more varied, ranging from Victorian semis to bungalows and newer townhomes. The area has become a recent hotspot for young professionals and families alike, as well as artists of every stripe, and you´re just as likely to run into someone creative on the street as you are during one of the many festivals, garden tours and studio open houses.
